About Us
Overview
Currently there are 151 members in CCCA, representing over 300 of the 1,200 licensed childcare and preschool programs in CT.
The CT Child Care Association (CCCA) is dedicated to serving the interests of licensed childcare providers in CT. We represent the interests of our members regarding legislative and regulatory issues. We are also dedicated to improving the quality of all of our programs and all issues related to the "business" of childcare. Whether a provider is "for-profit" or "non-profit", managing the "business" of childcare allows us to invest in our programs, staff and facilities.
CCCA is comprised of licensed providers throughout the State of Connecticut, from large corporations to small providers. Our membership is evenly split between non-profit and for profit. We represent faith based programs as well as programs presenting alternative learning philosophies (eg. Montessori, Reggio Emilia, etc.)
We seek to ensure that private child care providers are adequately represented on all boards and committees that make decisions about our future. We seek an active role regarding all aspects of providing high quality, cost-effective and easily accessible child care and preschool programs throughout Connecticut.

Background
The 2012 Connecticut legislative session was declared to be the “year of education reform”. During that session, discussions were held to address issues of funding, the expansion of magnet and charter schools, full-day kindergarten and the quality of preschool programs. Though few laws were actually passed, many groups were formed at the Governor’s direction to continue the perceived progress of the session. While these groups invited representatives from varied educational organizations throughout the state, one segment of the population was notably absent: licensed child care providers.
The lack of voice for the child care industry was disturbing enough that colleagues and competitors turned to each other to form CCCA. In the two years since we formed, many of the issues on the periphery have emerged as real, and the current threats to our programs is frightening. Read more about current issues
